Frequently Asked Questions

  • Koniamman Temple is dedicated to Goddess Koniamman, a form of Parvati, who is considered the guardian deity of Coimbatore city. Built in the 11th century, it's one of the oldest temples in Coimbatore. The temple hosts the grand Car Festival (Therotta Thiruvizha) during the month of Panguni (March-April), which is a major local festival. The deity is believed to bless devotees with prosperity, good health, and help with marital prospects and childbirth.

  • Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is famous for its colossal Ganesha idol, which stands at about 6 feet in height and 3 feet in diameter. According to legend, when the idol was being transported to Perur Pateeswarar Temple, the cart's axle broke at Eachanari, and despite many attempts, the idol couldn't be moved further, which led to the construction of this temple. A special Ganapathi Homam is performed here daily at 5:30 AM, and the temple also hosts a daily chariot procession around 7 PM.

  • For temple visits, modest attire is recommended. Men should wear shirts/t-shirts with pants or dhotis. Women should wear sarees, churidars, or salwar kameez with dupattas. Shorts, sleeveless tops, and short skirts are not allowed in most temples. Footwear must be removed before entering the temples, so comfortable slip-on shoes are advisable.

Koniamman Temple opens from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Eachanari Vinayagar Temple opens from 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with the special Ganapathi Homam at 5:30 AM.
